Revenge Fishing
About the Project
2D fishing/action prototype where you play as a vengeful whale, capsizing boats and tossing fishermen around a physics-driven sea.
Key Contributions
- Co-led the full project reboot, rebuilding core systems from the ground up.
- Implemented complex 2D physics for boats and fishermen using rigidbodies and joints.
- Created water-surface movement and interaction driven by custom shaders.
- Integrated object pooling and optimized performance for Web builds.
Genre & gameplay: Revenge Fishing is a 2D action game where you control a whale in a chaotic fishing harbor. Boats move across a dynamic water surface while fishermen try to catch fish; your goal is to pull them into the sea, destroy boats, and create as much havoc as possible without breaking the core physics fantasy. The focus is on arcade-like pacing, exaggerated reactions, and satisfying destruction. My contributions: Co-led the full reboot of a stalled project, rebuilding core systems from the ground up. Implemented boat and fisherman physics, using a mix of dynamic and kinematic rigidbodies, tuned joints and colliders to keep the chaos readable and stable, and created water-surface movement driven by shaders. Designed and implemented interaction systems for the whale’s attacks, integrated object pooling for boats and fishermen, and helped shape power-up and difficulty behaviors. Also provided input on level pacing and technical constraints to keep the prototype performant in Web builds.
